Conference Update

Hello AECT Research and Theory Members-
The Research and Theory division promotes the development and advancement of theory; promotes, presents, and disseminates research and scholarship that encompasses multiple perspectives; advocates the study of social and cultural issues in the field; supports, fosters, and mentors emerging scholars.

R&T will be sponsoring 46 concurrent, roundtable, and poster sessions plus a special presidential sessions at the 2008 annual conference in Orlando. Below are some activities I'm sure you'll want to attend:

-On Wednesday evening, be sure to check out the R&T table at the Welcome Reception. After the reception, the division leadership will be hosting a dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe. For those of you interested in reserving a spot for dinner, please email David Moore at moored3@ohio.edu.

-On Thursday morning (8:00 AM - 9:00 AM) be sure to attend the R&T sponsored presidential session. 'Putting the "Public" ; Back in Publication: A Call for Design Research in Educational Technology'This presentation is a call for action in the educational technology research community to adopt design research methods more widely so that the public good realized from our research increases to a socially responsible level. Specific strategies for engaging faculty members, doctoral students and practitioners in design research agendas will be described. -On Thursday (11:45am-12:45pm) be sure to attend the R&D/D&D Luncheon where our division will present their annual awards recognizing outstanding achievements in the instructional design and research fields. Tickets are required and can be purchased when you register or at the conference.

- On Thursday (3:30pm-4:30pm) join us for the R&T membership meeting. This is a great opportunity to get involved and shape the future of the division.
